XDP is having a 10% off sale through 9/2 by using code LABOR10 at checkout....I don't know if the t-stat is included, but may be worth checking out.

But if it's the wrong T-stat it won't do any good.

Just got back from a check ride with the new stat (and radiator). I let it idle in the driveway for 15min or so watching for leaks, temp only got up to 150° in that time but quickly ramped up to when I started driving.

After it was fully warmed up I got 209 ECT/ 210 EOT at 70mph 96° ambient temp with the A/C blasting.
After dropping back to55mph for a few miles I got 207/208.
In town traffic I got 206/209.
After getting back in the driveway idling for 5min or so it settled in at 204/205.

All numbers are shown as ECT/EOT, and they did move around a little. What I've posted is the most common numbers. Looks like it's working. I wouldn't mind knocking a couple of digits off of all those numbers but that's gettin pretty picky. I like this better than the 184/188 that was common at 65mph before.

Interesting that my ECT/EOT split is a little less at the higher temps.

That is something I pointed out earlier about temps.
They are not linear. The ∆ seems to be higher at
lower temps. I wished I had a good reason why.

True, just trying to help others. If it's the wrong thermostat, return it. Mine seems to be working good, and now Rustys showing good.

Rusty, did yours take some persuasion to get the spring compressed to fit the tangs in the housing?

It was definitely harder to do but I didn't use any tools. Managed to get it in there barehanded.

I noticed my temp spread was closer too. Only thing I can think of, its easier for the oil cooler to drop oil temp to these temps vs. the cooler ect temperatures we were running.

This makes me wonder. I am on my second 2k plus trip since having studs and new head gaskets put in. I did egr delete and new oil cooler about 6 months prior. I noticed my Ect temps being significantly lower this trip and my deltas a little higher. At night I have seen the Ect drop to 172. Starting to worry me. I think I will jump on this and see how it works on my truck.

I'm sure you did. In the second pic the aftermarket one looks smaller but I think it's just they way the pic came out. You didn't have to use the drilled housing did you?
How are your temps now?

One week update....

I've driven 500+ miles since the t stat swap, and just got home from a 232 mile round trip to visit family. All miles have been no load/light load....no towing. Below is what I have seen since replacing a fairly new Ford 192 t stat that gave me 186-188 ect. I've been driving in 95 - 97° outside temps, and running the A/C.

203-204 is my new normal operating temp (with brief dips to 199 when coming to a stop, and brief increases to 208 under acceleration)

Truck seems to have slightly better throttle response.

1 mpg gain....hand calculated, fueled up at the same Murphy B20 blend pump

ect vs eot spread decreased 3-4°

I seriously doubt we would see an increase in MPG while towing, however I could be wrong.

Hopefully others will share their experience good or bad so we can learn from it.

I was hoping the pics transferred correctly.

no, the aftermarket one IS that much smaller.

I did use the drilled housing. Temps where 203 ect 206 eot at idle or going slow. 206 ect 209 eot cruising at 50mph. cooling fan kicked on and stayed on. the fan dosen't lower the temps so it just stays on.

I put the new oem in till I get the new Mishimoto.

Good to hear there was a 1 mpg gain, but what were you averaging before?

So if my temps are say 194 and 199 is there any reason to do this?
