I agree you're good. What ever is in there I'd leave it. I would like to see 195-200. Currently my Murray+ stat keeps my truck at 182-184 on the highway unloaded with outside temps near 100°. And I know it's going to drop when the outside temps start coming down. I have (another) brand new Motorcraft on the shelf in the garage but I'm going to try this misho first.

I am thinking about getting this hotter T-stat.
My last one had a life span of about 14 Mo.
One spring, one summer, one winter and
the second spring then the temps were down to
the 182º range. I replaced it with one from IH
and not the Ford dealership parts dept. Have to
see how it holds up. But I want the 200º one.

I was not towing, and just me in the Excursion. With my fairly new Ford thermostat, my normal interstate ECT was 186 -188. I gained about 15° in coolant temp by only changing to the Mishimoto 200°.

Here's a Torque Pro screenshot while on interstate....
I recently purchased Torque Pro and bluetooth ODB adapter. I like how your is set up but I am trying to figure out which PID is which.

Example on your Boost gauge, I selected Boost (Ford spec) but it shows up as MAP with a range from 0 to 30. Did you have to edit the gauge and change the title to Boost then adjust the minimum range down to -0.15?

Also there like several transmission temperature PID to choose from, how do you know which ones is for 6.0L ? Same as Voltage

Would you be willing to write a brief tutorial on setting up Torque Pro and which PID to choose from with the ranges to set it to?

Thank you

Bill

Hey Bill, I'm putting together some info that I know about TP, and hopefully others will add their knowledge/experience to it. Yes, you have to change the name from Map to boost. My boost min is actually set at zero, apparently it registered a negative # at some point, so it shows that.

Here's the link to the instructions I have started...

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...and-using.html

My display looks like this before my bluetooth adapter sends info to Torque....

When you get your set up all in, it would be nice if you would also update this thread with your findings. Just like everyone else my 12 month old Ford T-stat has never given me temps above 185, unless I'm towing. Getting input from both of you two will be a great asset, and maybe tech thread worthy if we could keep it all in one place.

Not everyone, I need to run down to Miami Beach tomorrow I'll run 65mph and take pics of my deltas. Should be right at about 200 ECT.

Hmm, 12 mo old. Mine started showing colder after about 14 mo.
Went with one form IH and will see how long that holds out.
But I plan on one of the 200º ones soon for myself.

Michael, that's great for a Ford t-stat.

Here's an old screenshot of what my ECT were with a new Ford t-stat. A whopping 185*

I received a received a response from Mishimoto, concerning if their T-stats will fail open, or closed. As I think back, I never had a t-stat fail closed on any vehicle. Response below.....

Ed,

Thank you for your email!

Yes, our thermostats will fail open, not closed.

Mishimoto strives for the best Customer Service. Have I fully resolved any questions or concerns you were contacting us about today?

I have had one fail closed in the past. My dada and I got the volcano effect
with the cap removed when the engine was shut off during testing. Very nasty
hot water gushing out on a 1979 Bronco with the 400m engine. We got very lucky
and no one got burned.

As for the fact that they say failed open I think it has to do
with the mode of failure. The one we has still has the wax
and was stuck. Spring was still there and not broken.

Since I've owned my truck, 15 months now, OEM t-stat is at 195 and steady. Don't know how long its been there but the guy I bought from I'm sure put a new one in, he did everything else correct. He owned it 1.5 years before me and said the guy he bought from did nothing.

I've got a new OEM t-stat sitting here just in case this one goes. But I'm waiting for the results on this... like higher mileage numbers and if that pans out, I'm going to switch to the 200 unit.
