1986 f350 351W carburetor

Just purchased truck at auction. It has leak at front of carb. It is 70 miles away from my home. Not sure which carburetor truck came with from factory? Want to take replacement with me and drive truck home. Truck only has 16,000 miles, so I feel it's original eqpt. If anyone knows I appreciate the information. Thanks.

Is it a HO engine? If it is, then it has a motorcraft 4bbl made for Ford by holley. Most regular holleys will bolt right in place, with minor adaptations of the fuel line and the throttle arm linkage.

Not sure if HO. I'm leaning towards it NOT being HO because it's a flatbed dually and I thought HO was for handling options...more performance type vehicle? Thanks for your help.

The H.O is simply the 351W with a 4BBL Holley 4180, 4BBL intake, a different cam and that's about all that's different than the 2BBL 351W. 1986 only the H.O was offered.

Maybe the best (and cheapest) thing to do would be to fix the leak. Can you describe where the carb is leaking from? Could be as simple as tightening the fuel line where it enters the carb.

The leak is at the front near the accelerator pump?? Is what I am told. Truck starts and runs fine...just a little constant stream of fuel pouring from the front while truck is running.

I appreciate all the information. After additional photographs emailed to me and talking with the local parts house, I've decided to go pull carb., get rebuild kit (one is $60 and the other kit is $95)rebuild at home, then go get truck. I will update with which carburetor it turns out to be. Thanks again!

Dually = over 8,500 gvw = HO = 4180 carb.
Buy the genuine Holley 3-1346 kit for that carburetor, you have been warned!
$51.95 from Holley, Amazon or the local APS.

Other than a bowl gasket or the accelerator pump, the fuel inlet of these carburetors are very easy to cross thread or strip.
If you have a leak in that area it is something to look at.

Yes....my neighbor mentioned the cross threaded possibility yesterday. I think it will still be a good purchase, just need to get it home and then repairs are no big deal.

Got truck home this week. It was the accelerator pump diaphragm leaking. The carb numbers on air horn: 56HE-9510-GB LIST-50428 1317
It only has 2 idle adjustment screws (hex head). Seems to be running rich, but having read some of the other threads sounds like lots of things can contribute. Happy to have truck - thanks for the responses and help.

1st thing to suspect is a rotten power valve making it run rich. It may not have come in your kit, depending on what model you have.
