Mike I have heard the same thing. One of the things I brought up in fact was that.
The issue was related to the other studs iirc m2 or was it h2 I can't remember their name.

H11 studs is what I believe you're looking for.

Let me add fomoco updated the process by adding a 3rd 90* yeild. How much is left beyond that?
Do you know when that changed? My 03 manual shows 3 stages. They may have changed the bolt specs also.

Matt, just to make sure you understand. The fan clutch can be bad and the fan still spin. When the clutch locks up, the truck will sound like a prop airplane if the coolant is over 220 and the engine is running around 2000 rpm. Yes, it will move that much air. It's unmistakable. The clutch only locks up at higher EOTs or ECTs so it doesn't sound like a prop airplane all the time.

This might be material for a separate thread, but does anyone have thoughts on or experience with the BPD adapter that converts to a mechanical fan clutch like on the 7.3 ?

It's supposed to be a cure for high oil temps with the BPD external cooler. It's more like putting a bandaid on top of a bandaid in my opinion.
