Starter for 48 F3

I need a 12v starter for my 48 F3 and was wondering if the starter i use for my 2n ford tractor is the same. I replaced it in the tractor and was very happy with it. It seems like I can get tractor starter cheaper, i just want to make sure it will work in the truck.

I don't know about the tractor starter, but I can tell you a 6 volt starter works well. I drove my truck ('53 F100) for about 10 years with the original starter and had no problems.

The 6 volt starter will work fine as long as you don't crank it for an extended period of time.

If you have a 6 volt but want a 12 volt unit my son had his starter rebuilt by a local rebuilder and they converted it to 12 volt for a grand total of $45. Maybe you can find a local place to do it.
