I hope I have my colors right, but give this a try...
The Blk/orange wire feeds the switch with power. That wire traces back to the yellow wire that comes from the ignition switch.
If you had no power into the switch I believe you wouldn't be able to turn your dome light on with the door closed. If you have power going into the switch but not out of it on the blue/red wire, the switch is the culprit. Or a bad connection between the switch and the blue/red wire.

Here's a schematic. See the squiggly line in the light switch diagram? That's the variable resistor that controls the brightness of the dash lights. It's probably broken inside the switch.
