zf6 fluid besides merc V
Any member running anything besides the norm mer V? If so, hows' it been and how many miles on it?
Seems my truck hates warm/hot weather to the point, shifting just sucks. Tryn to find R or L or even 1st, is a no go. In mornings with trans at amb temp, its shifts like butter. Shifts great during winter too, but i fight this problem every summer. Soo much so, it killed my slave which i just installed in march. The all ALUMINUM M/S assy from Advanced Auto. So, i figure, maybe different fluid may help/prolong her.
Not doing the TonyBia cocktail.

Go read some on bob is the oil guy. If you need a thicker fluid, I'd suggest you try adding a couple of quarts (or more) to the ATF. The synchromesh is a little thicker fluid. If you go straight synchromesh, many have reported difficulty shifting in the cold months. One or two quarts seems to be generally accepted as better. I'm running about 1.5 qts of Valvoline synchromesh manual transmission fluid in mine mixed with the ATF.

Chris...glad you chimed in. You've been dead set on merc V, with all of your post from WAAYYY back, til now. Glad to know, you've tried something different and its working. Curious though, with 440k, why the change? Anyhow, think i'll try this mix drink and go from there.
In meantime, anyone else with success using a "mixture'. please post up. Found a 5w-20syn but no update on it. Same with Bia's mixture.

Cuz I've got 485,000 on my factory transmission and I notice that the grinding over bumps while shifting seems a little worse than it used to. Sliding into gear from a stop was a little odd every once in a while too. Last time it was time to change, I researched some old threads where some had been using a magical recipe that was supposed to reduce gear rollover noise and improve the feel of the shift.
Those old threads seem to have all died off, but I figured why not. I don't have any complaints on my recipe. I haven't really paid enough attention to see if there's a great improvement, but it feels like it shifts like it did when it was a year old, so that can't be bad I figure.
I need to pay more attention to the rollover and see if the noise is reduced any. After 485,000 miles I guess I treat it like the wife's nagging and just tune it out so I never did notice if it made any difference.

Mostly because I can't think of any reason I would get my but outside and want to go somewhere in those kinds of temps. But it's good to know you haven't had any issues with it. The old Farmers Almanac is calling for a nasty winter, so there's always a chance I might actually see a low of 5 degrees here in Texas one day.

I don't think my truck would run if it didn't get above 5 degrees so I wouldn't know.
