Just picked up a '64 on Monday and would like some help decoding the VIN. I'm sure that I will have more questions as I get into fixing it up.

I'll give you a pretty accurate decode and Number Dummy or someone else may come along and provide further details. F10 = 2 wheel drive F100 truck. B = 262 cubic inch, 1 bbl I-6 engine. R = built at San Jose, CA assembly plant. 566774 = built in July, 1964. 114 = wheelbase in inches. Blank exterior color code plus a six digit DSO means special order paint configuration. F100 = 5000 pound Gross Vehicle Weight rated half ton truck. N81 = red upholstery. A = 3 speed manual Ford 3.03 transmission. A1 = 3.73 gears in a Dana limited-slip differential. 5000 = maximum GVW rating. 132 @ 3600 = NET horsepower rating and the rpms where achieved. 775250 = Domestic Special Order from the San Jose district sales office. Unfortunately, the DSO records have long been destroyed so there is no way to find out what they said unless you luck out and find the build sheet. Hope this helps.
