I have the MyKey option. I don't have a MyKey setting. I want to disable the seat belt minder when off on the ranch and hunting. I get in and out a lot for opening gates, etc.

Is there anyway to shut off the seat belt minder? I don't use the My Key function. I and my wife are the only drivers.

 

i believe if you look up "belt minder" in the index of your owners manual it will tell you how to turn it off. I believe i turned mine off a few years ago, but I rarely drive without my belt latched so i can't remember if it worked. I believe you have to buckle and unbuckle your belt a few times and turn the key on and off a few times as well.

 

I always drive with my seat belt on but there are rare occasion when off-road where disabling the seatbelt warning is desirable.

 

the procedure is in the manual.

you will have to disable for the driver's seat and passenger's seat indepedently if you occasionally have a passenger with you while you are offroad ect.

mine are both off ... have been since day two. it's a work truck, i'm in and out all day long. drive 100 feet and get out ect ... be glad you don't have a GM .. you cannot shut the belt minder off in one of those things!

 

My truck is a 2012 and it's clearly spelled out in the manual. Only took a couple
mins. to do to each side.
Now it just dings once, I think, if you start and drive off with your belt off.

 

I also found the directions in the manual and it works great.

 

In the MY Key section of the manual on page 71:

Non-configurable Settings
The following settings cannot be changed by an admin key user :
• Belt-minder. You cannot disable this feature. The audio system will
mute when the front seat occupants’ safety belts are not fastened.

So if anyone knows how to disable the MyKey feature, I would like to know how to do it.

 

That's also in the manual, but to disable MyKey, you need to get the other key which was hopefully left as an Admin Key, put it in the ignition, turn it to on, and goto the Settings and clear the MyKey.

Then you can perform the procedure to disable the seatbelt minder.
