Ever since I bought my '97 F250 8 years ago, the clutch has been hard to depress. It works fine, it just takes a strong leg to use it. When I got a new clutch a few years ago, I was sure a new pressure plate would fix the problem but, no, it stayed the same. Then when I replaced my motor a couple of years ago, I installed a new slave cylinder - still stiff. Today I put in a new master cylinder and it hasn't changed. It has never bothered me but now I'm trying to sell the truck and people want to know what's wrong with the clutch. So….what's wrong with my clutch?

 

Nothing. Stop being a Sally.

The only thing is if the input shaft bearing retainer is worn and causing the throw out bearing to not slide on it freely.
There's not much going on there to cause resistance. You've replaced everything, so it just pushes harder than some.

 

I agree. It works fine so I guess that's just the way it is. I need to find a buyer that's not a Sally!
