New Shock absorbers

So I picked up a set of Monroe Gas Matic shocks today. When I compress them and let them return to full height they extend at different rates. One of each set returns to extended length at half the time of the other. Both front and back sets react in the same manner. Should I return them?

I installed a set of Bilsteins on my '98 several years ago and they are holding up fine. They are a little bit firmer than stock.

Installed a set of Gabriel Ultras tonight. Rides nice and firm now, way better than the stock ones that had 99,538 miles on them.

I wish I had known this a month and a half ago. I installed KYB Gas-A-Just shocks on my Explorer and they are under-damped. Rock Auto had the KYBs listed under "Increased handling / performance" but they hardly felt better than the stockers with 157K on them. The Ranger and Explorer take the same front shock, which is where I'm noticing the lack of damping.
