Since there are several threads going about fuel delivery issues and gasahol use I thought I would start a new thread about some newer products on the market.

Gates, for one is now offering several flexible ("rubber") fuel hoses resistant to all current fuel blends in use. One line, Gates Barricade, is specifically labeled for use on carburated engines and is sold in convenient 2' lengths in retail packaging in several i.d. sizes:

Gates has several more series, including one designed for full immersion like might be use in the tank on the pickup.

 

Thanks for the info Ax. It should provide a little assurance to know the fuel lines aren't breaking down and causing fuel issues on our old trucks. I need some high pressure hose for my 4.6 DOHC when I line out the fuel tank, pump & engine's final locations.

 

Or go find the gadgiteer guy on the Fordbarn. His hose has the fittings to be used with stock setups. NO barbs, hose clamps, etc.

Thanks, that is good to know. Is it a coincidence that there are two threads now about fuel problems? And the fuel pump on my 70 F350 gave out last week? I think it is not coincidental......

I would suggest NOT using only flex line from tank to engine and/or back. I'd use steel line as much as possible. Steel line stays cooler so there is less chance of vapor lock. DON'T use barbed fittings with any of this new line, the sharp barbs will damage the tender internal nitrile lining material that makes the line gasahol resistant. Use bubble fittings with the clamp behind the bubble or just adequate insertion of the plain steel line and manufacturer recommended clamps for low pressure (carb) applications. Don't overtighten the clamps. Threaded flare fittings should be used with high pressure FI systems.
