Gasahol and other crap fuels resistant flexible fuel hose
Since there are several threads going about fuel delivery issues and gasahol use I thought I would start a new thread about some newer products on the market.
Gates, for one is now offering several flexible ("rubber") fuel hoses resistant to all current fuel blends in use. One line, Gates Barricade, is specifically labeled for use on carburated engines and is sold in convenient 2' lengths in retail packaging in several i.d. sizes:
Barricade® Carburetion Fuel Line Hose
<hr>
Low-Permeation, Premium Hose for Use on Carbureted Engines, PCV and EEC Systems, and for Fuel Return Hose on Fuel Injection Systems
Not for use on the pressure-side of fuel injection systems. Approved for use with leaded and unleaded gasoline, diesel, bio-diesel, E-85, methanol, ethanol, and gasohol fuels. Patented five-layer Greenshield® barrier technology keeps fuel out of the environment while delivering peak fuel efficiency.
Caution: Do not use on pressure lines on fuel injection systems or cooling system applications.
Use Barricade Fuel Injection (4219BF) hose for Multi-Port Injection systems.

- Meets SAE J30R14T1, EPA 40 CFR 1051.110 , and CARB small engine off-road requirements for low permeation (except for kink resistance)
- Textile spiral layer (two spiral) and thermoplastic barrier layer
- Oil, heat, ozone and abrasion resistant cover
- Recommended for carbureted engines in cars, light trucks, off-road vehicles and small engines
- Temperature rating: -40° F to 257° F (-40° C to 125° C)
Caution: Do not use on pressure lines on fuel injection systems or cooling system applications.

I would suggest NOT using only flex line from tank to engine and/or back. I'd use steel line as much as possible. Steel line stays cooler so there is less chance of vapor lock. DON'T use barbed fittings with any of this new line, the sharp barbs will damage the tender internal nitrile lining material that makes the line gasahol resistant. Use bubble fittings with the clamp behind the bubble or just adequate insertion of the plain steel line and manufacturer recommended clamps for low pressure (carb) applications. Don't overtighten the clamps. Threaded flare fittings should be used with high pressure FI systems.
