The block casting numbers are down on the side around where the starter mounts and the heads are on the bottom of one of the central intake ports so you can't see them unless the intake is off. And that's the good news unfortunately, casting numbers will only tell you the relative vintage of the parts it won't tell you what vehicle it came from, and there are no numbers that will tell you that but all is not lost as there really wasn't much difference between a car or truck engine from that era so the exact vehicle doesn't matter. As for exactly what engine you have that will have to be visually verified, it's most likely you have something from the Windsor family, if you can confirm that by the the shape and size of the valve covers and the location of the theremostat in the intake not the block, then figuring if it's a 302 or 351 just comes down to the width of the intake, about 6" is a 302 and somewhere around 9" is a 351.

The intake # is on the top of the manifold. The head #'s are inside the valve cover.

Krooser I think you are correct on the 460 I looked on the sticker and couldnt find anything at first but right there at the bottom in small print it says 7.5L so i believe it is indeed the big boy.
secondly can anyone tell me what this is......and where I should attach it hahaha. I think its part of my heater

For example: Casting number prefix: C6ME = FE engines installed in 1966 Ford/Merc cars and F100/350's.
Casting numbers are foundry marks, cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.
460 block casting number prefixes: C8VE/C9VE/D0VE = 1968/70 429/460.
460 block casting numbers:
D1VE-6015-AB, AB1, AB2 = Internally balanced = 1971/73 429, 1971/78 460, some 1979 460's (no 460's in cars after 1978).
D9TE-6015-AB = Externally balanced, has a weighted spacer. Some 1979's, 1980/97.

You cannot go by the 3rd digit, as it applies to myriad different vehicles.
For example: Casting number prefix: C6ME = FE engines installed in 1966 Ford/Merc cars and F100/350's.
OP's casting number prefix could be E0AE which applies to cars, trucks, Bronco's and Econolines.

If you find a "6" for a Pantera it would never have been used on an Econoline. But these#'s are all we have to get an ID on what the part was originally used on. They are used by Ford collectors who also use them to determine 'correct' parts for a restoration.
They are not parts #'s but casting #'s… without them you have nothing.
