Driveline lengths

I have a 78 f250 crew cab 4x4 automatic 400 cu. It's a fixer upper that I purchased with drivelines sitting in the bed of the truck. I have finished some engine work, exhaust work, body work, and one to drive train. I replaced all u joints, carrier bearing, and proceeded to install the drivelines. Well in short the rear driveline does not fit. So lengths will help me determine if it's wrong drivelines, or reinstall of carrier bearings was wrong. I need lengths of the three drivelines.

Yeah , how short is it ? It has to be a little short for the axle to go up and down with out binding. You may know that but we don't know that you do or how much experience you have mechanically .

My bad, not short, too long

The driveline is 62.5 inches long outside knuckle to knuckle, about 61.25 inches center of u joint to center of u joint. The driveline is 1.25 inches too long. I will attach photos soon.

Does your truck still have the original D60 rear axle, or has it been swapped?

I am unsure if it is the original axle. But I am sure it is a Dana 60. The bolting patter of the housing matches a Dana 60. Unfortunately the Tag for model # and gear ratio are rusted looking.

That cancels my theory of a sterling being swapped in.

On a side note...it's better to be too long, than too short. It's cheaper to shorten, than to retube the d-shaft.
