took it to 2 shops today 1 said might be water pump . other said
it might be the rings
I don't see why you think there's a problem with your truck. Everything sounds normal to me, and several other members here have said the same thing.
What did you tell the shops that you took the truck to? What makes them think you need a water pump or rings? Are these shops trusted by other people in the area? Some places will sell you stuff just cause they can.
Of course the dipstick is hot! Oil is not only a lubricant, but it also helps COOL the internal engine parts, which means it picks up the heat to get it away from bearings and journals.
And don't fret... what you thought was steam coming from your dipstick was actually just oil vapors. Same stuff you see coming out of the valve cover when adding oil to a hot engine.

Agreed. You're over thinking this, trying to find a problem when there isn't one. Make sure the oil and coolant level are correct, and drive the truck. End of story. If it's not overheating and not leaking any fluids, you have no problem.
If you've ever changed the oil right after driving a vehicle for a while, you'll notice that the oil is hot. It's inside the engine after all. If it didn't get hot the condensation and moisture that naturally occurs wouldn't evaporate, and you'd have water in the oil.
when I had a oil change I could smell smoke. no oil on manifold or the exhaust
went store that night I could smell oil. I looked on manifold and the exhaust
so I broght truck back they said they must over filled will oil 5/30 so they drain some out. so the next day I am still smelling oil when I get out truck. before that oil change
I never smell oil . as far water pump he was guessing said everything seem to be ok
he been at his shop for years. and other place iam not sure about. but I do thank you for the help and time
sorry to get back to you all late.
but I took truck in to ford dealer
it turn out to be a bad pvc valve not running hot no more no smoke out of
the oil stick I don't smell oil no more I had them check the whole truck out
they also told me I should replace catalytic converters. I guess for a 94 f150 4x4
with 160xxx miles it still has some life left in her. but I wanted to thank you all
for help and replys
