Ignition wiring issue

Ignition wiring issue
I recently purchased a 1950 Ford F3 with the original 6 volt flathead V8, and I need some ignition wiring help. I put a new 8 volt battery, starter solenoid, battery wires, and checked the starter.
Could someone tell me the correct wiring for the starter solenoid. The engine will turn over (not start) from the solenoid button, but not from the ignition button (no click). I have it wired as follows: battery positive to engine block, battery negative to passenger side of solenoid, ignition button to front of solenoid, other wire from ignition to driver side of solenoid and then starter wire from driver side of solenoid. I have also replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel lines, but I am not getting any fuel to carb. Any ideas and help will be appreciated. Thank you!

Did you follow this diagram? http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/F...48-49truck.jpg
On the fuel issue, what is the condition of the tank? Were all tank connection fittings clear of crud?
