Wanting to swap an 2003 turbo on to my 2005 6.0

From what Ive been told its pretty much a direct swap, or am I wrong? The only thing ive read that should be changed out is the oil drain. Other than that no tuning is needed?

I just did the same swap not 2 weeks ago. No tuning needed. It is a different turbo bracket but you can use your 05 one but can only use two bolts. I had a 03 bracket so I swapped it as well.

I have an 03 bracket sitting here. PM me and we
can talk about it.

Do you have the new hard line oil feed? If you
don't have one I know where you can get one for a
nice price if he has any left. Let me know and I'll
have him check into it.

No benefit, practically speaking. But it's a mean whistle, especially straight piped! It's pretty fun, but it also bothers me a little sometimes, like when I have to basically idle down my street in the morning.

Just look for 03 turbo on you tube (if you've never heard it).

Ok, I get it, it's just for the sound. Well that makes sense, I was just thinking there was more to it then that.

Actually the 03 and 04 turbos are slightly bigger. I believe by 3mm, but I could be wrong about that. Plus, I do believe that tuning in the 03-04 yrs yielded a little more HP (I do mean little, some might even consider negligible) at the rear wheels then later year models.

I could be wrong, but that's what I was told.

Thanks for the good info. Will the vband clamp off my current turbo still work on the 03? I was told to clean the veins. Is that a simple procedure as just taking off the compressor housing and just cleaning em off?

Not the compressor housing, the turbine housing. There is a good write up in the tech folder on the proper cleaning procedure. It's easier than removing the turbo, but take pictures as you go.

Yes, the hardware will all interchange on the turbo.
