4.6 rebuild due to "helpful" friend adding oil

Just as the title says, I'm getting ready to do an engine rebuild in my 97 F150 4.6 4x4. Upon allowing my friend to use my truck for a couple days I get a phone call telling me there's absolutely no oil in my truck what kind should they get. I am surprised as I just checked my oil prior to lending it and it was full I told them to double check and upon double checking again they tell me it is empty, highly doubtful so I tell them add a little at a time of 5w20. I wasn't home when it was dropped off so the next day I go to leave in my truck check the oil, my truck was never low on oil, and now they drove it an hour to my house with it past the check area and on the round part of the dipstick, yep you read right WAY OVER FULL. So I drain the oil and it's at least 3 quarts over full if not more. Now it has rear upper chatter assuming that the lash adjusters in the rear has collapsed as I know the engine was starved for oil due to aeration. also now I see oil beginning to seep on the lower head each side AWESOME. here's the kicker not only did they add too much oil, BUT they used 15w45 diesel engine oil.

ANYBODY got any suggestions on replacing the lash adjusters?
and any other areas of suggestion to look for damage?
I can't tell you how awesome of a day it was, because after diagnosing this engine problem I noticed my starter wire needed replaced a common problem, but I decided to check the wire on my expedition that runs amazing, pop the hood wire looks good I wanted to check all my fluids then start it to check the transmission as im waiting for it to warm up I start to see coolant coming out of the bolts on the top of the passenger valve cover
and I'm just like hell yea ain't this awesome two engines in a day what's the odds on that????
any advice on that would would be appreciated as well its a 99 expedition 5.4 4x4
thanks guys
