'03 Aviator
I changed my trans filter and fluid a few weeks ago. Since then I've been getting a few drops of fluid on the floor every day.
Trans is clean, plug is wet.
Was there supposed to be a gasket or o-ring? I don't recall seeing anything.
I thought I'd add a metal gasket and some teflon on the threads.
Good idea? Bad idea? Other ideas?

 

Rock Auto shows two different types of drain plug gasket. A gasket should be all you need. Teflon tape is for tapered pipe threads. I wouldn't use it. You run the chance that some of it will come off and get in the oil pan or the pickup.

 

Put on a nylon gasket and added 1/2-3/4 qt today.
Will be keeping an eye on the garage floor the next few days.
