Lawdog's 1968 F100 Build

A few months ago I bought a 1968 F100 with a 2003 Crown Vic front and rear suspension swap. It has four wheel power disk brakes, power steering and a 302 out of a 1999 Mountaineer. I thought it would be a good starting point for a nice build. The only rust is on the bottom of the doors. I have completed a few projects since I bought it. Replaced the old radiator with a new 3 core aluminum radiator. Sanded and undercoated the interior floor pans, added a classy seat cover, installed new gauges and aluminum dash, new radio and speakers, replaced the turn signal switch and installed seatbelts and spent lots of hours repairing the wiring. Over the next few months I want to change out the rims and tires (20's in the back and 18's in the front), restore the blower unit and replace the heater core, all new window and door seals. I will update as I have the time and money to add to the build.

76BlackB,

Thanks for the comments. It has been trying at times with the wiring issues and some minor mechanical issues but that's what you expect with old cars. I love the suspension, it rides nice and drives real smooth. I still got some bugs to work out with rubbing in the front and stuff but it stops and steers like a 5 year old truck instead of a 40 year old truck. I am a big fan of resto mods, I like the classic look with the modern tech.

No problem brotha, admire the work your doing. Whats the stance on that truck? Did you custom make your gauge cluster or is that available somewhere?

I bought the dash insert at 6 Gauge 3 3/8" and I got the gauges on amazon. For the stance I am sitting at 12 inches at the front bumper and 15 inches at the rear.

Bravado Americana 20x11 on the rear and either 20x9 or 18x10 in the front. I was thinking the 20's with 18's would help give a nice rake but I am not sure yet.

Are you sure that the engine is from a Mountaineer? The FEAD is from a Mustang... but then again the spark plug angle screams GT-40P heads, which came on the '97.5-01 Explorers/Mountaineers.

Never mind, carry on.

Nice build , looks good and I agree with the resto mod thing. Why not ride and stop like a newer truck? I am looking to buy a 3 row aluminum radiator. Where did you get yours? Champion or US Radiator???
