Deb, it was great meeting you last night. Your truck is looking great. You'll be driveing it in no time. I will make the blocks this weekend. I am going to make two test pieces out of white oak. One 3/4" and one 1" thick you can bolt them up and see if you like the gap under the fender

I have a clip of it, but I can only post pictures, not attachments.

Thanks Chris, great meeting you also. Thanks for your help! I got the license plate bracket attached last night (only took a couple of tries, as usual) and it looks good. This weekend I am going to figure out why the starter button doesn't have power to it.

I may be wrong here and I'm sitting on my couch not near my truck, but The start button is actually a ground which completes the circuit through the dash. That is why there is only one wire to it. Because of this I don't think there is actually 'power' to it. Electrical is my worst aspect of truck fixing so I could be off base here...... Nice job on the start btw.

So you may need to remove the new paint under the switch to make a good ground( metal to bear metal.)

That's a nice looking truck. Mounting them on the side was another option I was considering, but the other style mounting brackets would need to be used and would require drilling holes in the box or stake pockets. I like where we have them positioned now (less chance of messing something up).

I here you sister! Taking a drill to the box would be unnerving

It only took me about two years to get up enough nerve to drill mine out.
I still have no tailgate but hopefully measured enough times for that to line up.

I do like them there; you did a great job! I'm pretty sure mine will never be relocated there, unless my body shop guy does the drilling.

Off the side of the frame rail under the bed. Chris is going to help with making spacers (3/4 to 1-inch) so they can be completely seen. Right now the tops of them are slightly hidden by the box.

I completely understand not wanting to drill. Like I said, about 2 years before I was foolish enough to go for it. Then again, I don't have that real pretty and new paint to worry about. It's not the last mistake I will make before I'm done.

Nice truck

I like the way you have done your truck. I was curious about the engine. Did you modernize the distributor or is this a newer engine? My 46 has the crab distributor in front of the motor. I have kept mine stock also but did switch to the electronic ignition. I just tore it down for a new clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing and fly wheel grind. It had a terrible chatter on take off. It now is smooth as silk when I let the clutch out. I have it in Florida where I think it might stay for a few years. I had so much more fun with it down here.
Did you paint your truck yourself or have a painter do it? It is very sharp and so smooth looking. I had mine painted but hope to do my next one myself with a lot of practice. Good luck, Steve
