Decided to install a rear seal while the 351C was out. I couldn't get the block side of the rope seal out, so I ended up splitting the tranny and engine and putting the block on an engine stand. I thought I could just loosen the mains and get enough slack to lift the crank off the seal. Not happening. I ended up pulling the front cover, timing chain and the rod caps too. Then the old rope seal poped right out. The rear main cap had a pin to hold the old seal so I drove it out of the oil seal groove and installed the new seal. Still isn't all back together That's the trouble with being retired. It's as much work as being employed
OBTW the rear sump didn't fix my clearance problems so I'm back to trying to redo the mounts I welded in 30 years ago

I can't figure out how I got anything done before I retired! I'm still 100% busy, just with different things.

Not sure what happened but when I went to put the transmission back on the engine it wouldn't draw up. Ended up trying to match them up a dozen or so times. Took the flex plate off a couple of times, removed the bell housing from the FMX, reAd that on C4s you could put the input shaft in backwards. Tried to pull it out and reverse it and it wouldn't move. Took the pump off and the FMX shaft isn't like a C4.

FMX with front pump removed!

Even gave up and started looking for a AOD.

Sometimes it pays to rest and try another time. Good job!

Yea, I needed a quick carburetor kit for my '71 Cougar a few years ago and they wanted the numbers from the carb tag. One parts store was clueless, but the next one gave me the kit I wanted with no other questions asked.

. Any time an auto tranny won't go on, suspect the converter hub notches aren't going all the way into the pump... never just tighten the bolts to force them together! ... Just rotate the converter/engine till they go together...

Well as usual things (including weather) got in the way of getting the ole 351C running. I got a rebuilt starter and since I changed the old 2 barrel to a Edelbrock Performer and Holley 1850 600 CFM I'm thinking I better check on Jet size. I haven't taken it apart but what are you guys running for primary jets. This is just a cruiser with the occasional tire squeal nothing more.
Added a mileage cam, new lifters and a valve job to the mix as well. Talk about creeping from one thing to another!!!!

Tried to fit headers but the passenger side is too tight to get them on so for now I'll be running stock exhaust manifolds.

Looking good, BJ. But I don't know about Holley jetting.

Got some new valve covers for the ole 351C.

I read several posts about the turkey pan. I hope I didn't screw up but I put one in under the performer intake.
