small gray vacuum line

My small gray vacuum line came out of the grommet in the fire wall and my ac is switching to defrost at around 1400 rpms. How do you reconnect it into whatever is on the other side of the grommet?

Push it back through the firewall then go to the other side and connect it.

If it worked its way out of the grommet, I would check for cracks or splits and consider replacing. These things should not come off by themselves.

Easier said than done!!!!

Those expeditions dont give you a lot of room under the dash to play with. Ever change a front blend air door motor, than you know what im talking about, that grey line should be the heater control valve, and when your under acceleration its enough of a leak to put it into fail safe. That should go to the climate control head or that junction block under the dash. if you put the system on heat I bet it works fine, right!, gotta get under there maybe pulling the glove box, push the tabs on the side in and when all the salt, pepper and melted candy spill out on you, there's a better view of what needs to be done in there. Good luck

yeah I believe I got pulled off by my mechanic shop accidentally when they were checking other vacuum lines for leaks but they will be the one fixing it anyways if I can't get it myself.

Any idea of what all has to be removed behind the glove box? I cannot see anything behind it, they are between the firewall and the blower etc. it appears.

I've got the same problem, but mine was the small black one - a squirrel chewed it, and when I tried to splice it, I pulled it out through the grommet. I have the 05 with the climate control, and am having trouble locating that little block with the vacuum lines coming from it. Have pulled the glove box and don't know where to look. Any info would be appreciated.

The actual grommet is pre drilled with 2 holes for the 2 vacuum lines. One at like 11 o'clock for the black one and one at like 5 o'clock for the grey one. All I did was blow out the hole with an air compressor and then I was able to see the two pre drilled holes and I put a little bit of spit on the grey hose and jammed it inside the grommet and mine worked fine after that
