I'd rather like to think my beater truck is one in a million.

I avoid deep water. All it takes is for the road to wash out or a sinkhole to open up and you're in big trouble. Driving home from a weekend of storm chasing we (my cousin and I) were going through Iowa after some heavy rains. It was around midnight, I went to take a ramp and suddenly hit 3' of standing water. He slid forward and hit the seat back (he was sleeping on the folded down rear seat, we were in his Prius), and we came to a stop. Car floated, then sank. Engine stalled, thankfully the electric drive system was operating so we we could back out. We were able to limp it the final 150 miles home.
