2013 Navigator towing and shifting
Moved from a 2000 Navi to a 2013. Much more stable towing but not having control of gears from 4th to 6th is horrible. Does not seem to make a difference whether or not using Tow Haul Mode. Towing a 6000 lb trailer plus equipment so pretty well maxed out. When I come to a hill, speed drops and no matter how I work the accelerator, I do not get downshift through 5th, 4th, etc. All of a sudden I am down at 45 or 50 in a very low gear at 4500+ RPM. I know I could have kept it at 55+ if I could have made it to 5th or 4th before the severe downshift.
Any comments or suggestions? Any aftermarket solutions for manual control of gears?

I have never noticed it downshift through the gears, goes down under 2000 and then up to 4000+ RPM even with cruise control set. No gear indicator so I never know what gear I am in. I have tried different methods with the accelerator and not much change. One time I did move from D to 3 so know that downshift was from 6 directly to 3 (there was no shift or change in RPM when I went to 3). The only time I know I am in 4th or 5th is when accelerating. I will mention to dealer the next time I am in and see if they can diagnose any issue. I wish I had manual control of all gears!
BTW, it maintains speed with cruise control but bogs way down (slows 5 or more mph), downshifts and then goes to extreme RPMs to get me back to speed. I am sure if I was able to manually shift to 5 when the speed dropped a little, that would have maintained speed so it would not have had to go to 4500+ RPMs to get back to speed and then start all over again.
