its been a while, that i posted here, but i wanted to do an update and see, if anybody has some input:
as for my Rear Axle, i have been looking at some Big Rig suspensions. what i found so far was a local place, that has a complete spring setup from an international. The setup has both airbags, the rear cross bar, all frame hangers and the spring bar. The spring bar is a z-bar, which goes above the rear axle. the system also has the support bar to go from the front hanger to the bottom of the rear axle.. similar to a 4-link.I can get the whole system for 400.-
any thoughts? anybody done this before?
for the front I’m looking to replace both springs with bags. I know there was a thread a while back somewhere about a diy system, but i can not find it...

thanks guys

I feel like that would be way overkill for a one ton truck. The weight of all that alone would be a lot.

I am aware of my max weight on the vehicle. My camper is bumper pull and only weighs 9000lbs loaded.
But.. the main reason for adding Air Suspension is to have for once a smoother ride while traveling and secondly i can dump the air and have an easier entry and exit for my handicapped wife.

As for the additional weight: if i decide to purchase the more expensive petebilt setup, i wont be adding too much, as the Low-Air system consist of Aluminum brackets and does not need the cross bar below the bags.
Plus i can use individual auto leveler.

For the front i am considering to find the right bag to raplce the springs entirely. The problem i am having at the moment is finding the correct bag, which has to be readily available in case of failure, but should also be a large volume for added comfort.. (the larger the bag, the smoother the ride )
let see what i come up with..

That's some beautiful stuff but what happens when it gets covered with mud, sand, snow, ice and salt.

ok.. i just picked up a complete Hendrickson rear Air suspension from an international single axle truck. I also ordered some replacement parts for my onboard air system.
I will start removing my bed this week and start converting the rear suspension.
If there is any interest here, i will document the conversion. You guys let me know.. .
