Making a 1998 Explorer Sport offroad-capable?

1998 Explorer Sport, 4.0 SOC, 4:11 differentials, Goodyear Wrangler P255 x 70 x 16 tires.

I am considering making modifications to the vehicle to travel "moderate" 4X4 trails in Colorado mountains.

Questions:
  1. What are the difficulties and results of "adding" air lockers to this vehicle? (ARB?)
  2. What lift modifications provide the "best results" for the vehicle?
  3. Does the front torsion bar suspension present problems?

1) Air lockers--nothing special, I hear they work great but are expensive. Not sure about the front diff being much fun to work on, check out the clearance to get the cover off.

2) Best lift for best results: You can't lift 'em much, so you'll have to make do.

3) Torsion bars: Yup, you can jack 'em up and gain about 2". That's it.
You may be able to do a shackle filp in the back, or add a leaf to match the front.

More than you can stand:
