Oil Sender Question...

Well this is likely a simple, dumb couple of questions, but here goes. First, what is the thread size for the oil sender in a 351W block? Does the oil need to be drained to remove the sender?

I ordered a set of gauges and a pillar pod for them. The oil sender that comes with the oil pressure gauge uses 1/8" npt threads. I want to know if I need to order an adapter or not. I read through a write up on how to install the gauges over at NLOC and they said it used the 1/8" npt thread, but other site I look at say 1/4" npt.

The block is 1/4" NPT. You'll need a short pipe nipple to get the sensor away from the block... it won't fit where the factory unit was because it's bigger.

Thanks. I aware that it will need spaced out. Just want to make sure I get all the parts I need before I take the old one out. Gonna put a T piece in there so I can keep the factory sender and gauge functional.

I've been reading up on this (new sender arrives tomorrow) and it seems the cold oil level is below the hole, so you might get a few drops but don't have to drain it.

Correct, no need to drain the oil.
