hole in trans housing

so I just bought an 06 f250. I was crawling around under it today and noticed something I am thinking is not good at all. I have a hole in the trans housing and what ever the part that I can see right in the hole is discolored. The truck has a 3 month 3,000 mile drivetrain warranty. Is the dealer going to be on the hook for a new tranny for me? Also every now and then when I am breaking and come to a stop I get a little thunk sound. it sounds like its coming from the tranny. The truck has 193,000 miles on it.

I found what you looking at.

On the front is the black cover is for access to the torque converter bolts.

Have a look in the Tech Folder for top side oil leaks and
also hanging drip. Get them to fix as much as you can
while you have the coverage. One good idea would be
to start a thread on what ever they say is wrong and
get some of the others to give some input on it.

As I said in the other post if I were you I would look this
truck over very carefully with a fine tooth comb. Someone
did something to this truck and God only knows what else
they may of done. I hope that you don't find anything else.

What you are seeing is the torque converter. IIRC that's put there to cut out for additional access to the torque converter nuts. I have that hole there also and have never had issues with it.

Someone cut that out. I would just use a rubber plug and Cover it up. Similar to the rubber plugs for the cab or on the doors covering the mirror nuts
