Hey,
Thanks for the replies.

I've been considering getting a used engine but I'm not sure I really want to go that route.

I have plenty of room to pull and rebuild the engine. I can turn my truck sideways in my garage and get all the way around it.

So what causes ( broken ring landings)?

I know it is not a plugged CCV. I've had if off several times. I've cleaned it and blown air throughout it several times.

Pickachu, thanks for the response. I've been following your "Carnage" thread.

Scotttahoe, thanks for the invite. I'm hoping not to be back until spring if all goes well out there. Do you live in north or south Tahoe?

Lot of things could do this. Broke injector tip a one point, running hot for long period of times, broke ring or rings, etc.

Trying to decide what the best course of action to take with my truck.

What would you do in my shoes?

Should I pull engine?

Pull drivers side head first to see if the problem can be identified?

Etc?

What do you guys suggest I should do?

If I was in your shoes, I'd pull the engine. If for no other reason than it's so much easier to work on when it's on a stand. You can get to anything on the engine while it's out. Even if it ends up just needing a valve job, you'll have a lot less aggravation scraping head gaskets and reinstalling the heads.
