It cost me about $250 to have the crown vic rack narrowed, but given that you can get a 2.5 turn or 3.0 turn lock to lock mustang rack from a parts store for $100.... makes it pretty tempting. So far my narrowed rack is doing good, but I will watch with interest as I have a few mustang racks sitting in the basement.

2.75" narrowed allowed me to not mess with the frame and still fit bullet mustang wheels inside the front fenders. Could have probably still fit 3" narrowed.
I narrowed mine 2.75" and have the cost of 2 tie rod ends ($16 each). I got a rack for free but it needs lines bent and flared. I still have my narrowed CV rack but I like the off the shelf idea much better.

Finally got the engine and transmission mated and dropped it into the truck. I think I will be utilizing an extra set of Mustang pedal for ease of clutch operation. I will have to adapt my CPP booster and master cyl or I might go with a different setup all together. So the CPP setup might be for sale.

Update......

Moving right along with the build (been taking a bit long due to the 1969 Mustang project and a new baby boy who poops/eats/cries 23 hours a day)

I have my engine wiring harness in and laid out how I want it. Currently setting up the braided looming.

I mounted some fox Mustang pedals in, used a 1993 Cobra booster and the CPP master cyl (with built in prop valve)

I ordered: a new steering column (Ididit old school strait), some unisteer joints and a steering wheel. 3 row Champion radiator and some odds/ends AN fittings for the fuel system.

I know I am missing a huge list of things I ordered but boxes have been coming everyday from different shippers (my wife isnt amused hahaha) I will post pictures up as soon as I can.

Currently in search of a 99/01 Cobra or a 03/04 Mach 1 throttle cable and bracket (discontinued part and everyone thinks they are made of gold and space dust so they want stupid money for them)

I installed the cable and attached it to the pedals (I will need to brace the pedals and firewall to eliminate flex during pedal actuation.

I found a Cobra throttle cable and pedal (that is currently installed in the truck and moved slightly over to the left side (along with the rest of the foot controls and steering column)

I ran the brake lines from the CPP master to the fronts and rears. I am waiting on a AN to Inverted Flare adapter before I can bleed the system.

The steering column is mocked up and ready to have the rest of the steering rods cut to length.

The fuel line is on its way, I chose to use AN Russell braided to match the Aeromotive rails. I will be mounting my filter and Walboro pump this coming week.

I picked up an Champion 3 core aluminum radiator with polished tanks (for a SBC swap, but the ports are in the correct location for me) for $220 shipped.

I need to look into the Lokar universal parking brake cable mod to utilize my stock parking brake handle and attach to the explorer disc/drum rear brakes.

I will need to figure out the driveshaft situation. I might be able to use my stock driveshaft and cut it down then utilize different U-joints to adapt to my pinion flange and trans slip yoke.
Does anyone know what size the stock driveshaft takes for U joints?

I used the Ron Francis MK97 harness. I need to figure out the body harness for gauges/lights etc.

I have made a bunch of progress but havent updated this thread in a while. I will post more details tonight.

So here is what I took care of in the last few weeks:

Completed the engine wiring harness, still need to connect the other end to the power distribution box, run the wires for the alternator/starter

Made an oil filter relocation kit and made -10 AN supply/return lines.

Installed a new power steering rack (1993 Mustang) to replace my mock-up rack.

Finished the steering linkage (3/4" DD) Need to secure the steering column to the floor when I fab up the floor opening cover.

Trans crossmember is in and fits perfect. I used a Speedway universal 4 or 6inch drop and a T45 trans mount (same bolt holes at a T3650)

Got my pinion yoke and tran yoke figured out, need to shorten the driveshaft about 4 inches. Ill know exactly once the rear end is tack welded to the leaf perchs.

Still need to:

I have to patch the lower cowl to fender metal on the cab, will probably be this coming week.

Bleed the brakes

Finish the fuel hard line

Wire the cab/ignition/fuel pump

Cooling lines/hoses

Power Steering lines

Prime the oil system

Route MAF and filter (probably inside of passanger fender)

Figure out what rear shocks I want and how I will mount them to the axle.

That is pretty much it for the big stuff.

Did you use the factory clutch cable for the 3650? Im thinking of going with a hydraulic set up out of a 05 and up mustang. I had issues with the cable clutch on the 01 cobra I had.

Also with your ron francis harness did you send your ECU to have them program out the pats system?

I guess the 1950 I just bought has a previously installed Camaro Subframe and rear end, I have to post pics of it to see if someone can tell me what year range Camaro it may be out of.

If the tie rod ends are behind the control arms then 67-69, if in front then 70-81.

I did use the stock clutch cable (mainly due to the fact that I had an extra brand new one)

I might eventually do the hydraulic conversion when this cable wears out.

As far as the harness and PCM, I got my harness and PCM used from a guy who had a 32 Ford with a 03 Cobra engine. I have 2 PCMs. One is a stock 01 Cobra and the other is the 03 Cobra stock tune with PATS disabled. I also have a Diablosport "flipchip" with a tune on it.

I will be using the 03 PCM to start and run the truck then maybe look into getting it properly tuned.

I got a bit more work done today before work. My grandpa used to work at Pontiac (skilled trades) and had one of the metal workers do a "G" job and fab up some lower cowl/cab pieces. they arent perfect but I wanted to install them anyway. I have to do the driver side still but it wasnt bad for 2 hours of work. I need to finish some welding on the pass side
