2002 E-250. Set up too long, fuel pump not working
#16
Thanks handyman... we just haven't had time to mess with it and now are into a rebuild on a F-150 with 4.6L... praying all goes well there. I'm kinda thinking the problem with the van is spark plug insulators or COP being intermittent... my theory is that it is allowing raw fuel out the exhaust where it burns and heats up the exhaust causing it to turn fiery red HOT... definitely a problem there somewhere but I would think a faulty COP should show up on a code scanner....

PRAISE THE LORD!!!! Thanks everyone for all your help! It has been a few months but I found some really inexpensive COP's online, made in China, the price was right and something easily affordable. I think I paid a little over $50 for the whole set. I've worked on this van from time to time for the past 4 years and FINALLY got the bugs out!.. Runs smooth and strong...Special thanks to Handyman82801.
This whole ordeal began with the van overheating and busting the radiator. Then it sat in the yard for a couple of years which resulted in replacing all the injectors, valve job, new gasket set, timing chain, TC guide, few other things. about $1,000 in parts and machine shop work. It has sat around here for another 2 or 3 years, new fuel pump, only God knows what else I put in it before I FINALLY got it going... maybe it's worth all the time and parts I've put into it. Fortunately it was planned to be a back up for when my other van breaks down and has not been needed... we've just used it to pull trailers around and boats out of the water. Next item... new windshield.. ugh...

If you were closer to Columbus, OH I could help you out there---that's the very biz I'm in!
Not wanting to be a buzz kill on your resurrected van but don't be too shocked if those bargain COP's begin to fail one at a time, especially during the cold months---if that's possible in your climate. Not saying you need to buy the best (Motorcraft) but having "been there, done that" with cheap COP's we learn why they're so "affordable". Hopefully you used good or new boots? Those can be vital parts of the ignition system.
At any rate glad you go this back up running---nice to have one project out of the way.
