My 1989 F150 with 302 will fire right up but after a few seconds begins to spit and sputter , I have to give it some gas just to keep it running , after about 10 minutes of this if I turn it off and wait another 10 minutes to start it again , it purrs like a kitten , I have replaced the erg valve and still the same routine with it......help , I`m at a loss

 

Have you checked for codes? Let us know what codes it has. Have you checked the fuel pressure when it is running rough? Why did you replace the egr? Did you have a code for egr? If so is it still there after you replaced it?

Your codes and fuel pressure readings can really help in getting a direction to start with.
