Do NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT wear a towel on your head when crossing the border with your guns... it could cause trouble... Years ago, I was driving to Alaska, for a boat Captain's job, and took my little 410 single shot SS shotgun with me. When the Canadians ask if I had any weapons, of course, I told them "Ya Shure, you betcha".. they went into lock-down, hold-up mode, told me to 'Step away from the vehicle"... and so on, until I showed them the little 410. They relaxed some, but kept a wary eye on me, and directed me into a building, where I was searched, and directed to fill out some paperwork... and sent on my way.. Not much of a problem, but it was only a .410 single shot.. I did have to do some explaining about having to shoot large halibut before bringing them into the boat. Border guards seem to have had their sense of humor removed, no matter which side you are on.

You would have thought so amigo... I am sure that I fit the Interpol watch list criteria, as a dad, with 2 teen age sons, towing a 25' boat, and headed to Alaska. Actually, we only drove to Prince Rupert, put the boat in, and went on via boat from there. We did have 7 cases of beer, hidden under the ice in the bait tank, as in the case of "Blind Justice", Officer Obie, who searched the boat, was unable to find our beer.. Even the drug dog, only pissed on a trailer tire. Which I guess was the 'All Clear' signal... With a few smirks, and sideways glances, we went on, just sitting on those cases of beer..
