Newbie - Head Liner TV issues
Hey all-
Newbie here, just bought an older 2002 Explorer Eddie Baur edition for the wife. Figured I would join your Ford club in an effort to pick the brains of the professionals. I have both a 2002 Ford F150 and a 2002 Ford Explorer now. I would like to know how to search the threads without having to scroll through thousands of them to find the one I need.
What I'm looking for is an answer to the following: The new (used) explorer is equipped with a fancy pants TV in the headliner. We didn't get a user manual with my purchase so several of my buddies and I have been searching the internet for where the fuse is located to check that before we start tearing stuff apart. Not sure where the fuse is or what to do next if we find the fuse and the fuse is good.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've got 2 days to figure this out before we go on vacation.....I would love to make the wife happy without having to spend a grip on the Ford garage.

To search the forum, click the "Search" radio button towards the top of the forum page in the center of the dark blue bar. Or you can use the Advanced Search feature, just be sure to select the appropriate forum you wish to search.
You can download an owner's manual from this site. I didn't find a section on the rear entertainment system though so I'm not sure that will be of much help for this.
Are you certain this rear seat entertainment system is factory installed? If not, it's anybody's guess as to where the fuse is. The factory unit is DVD only, no television. If it's factory, then the power for it is sourced from fuses F2.3 (20A) in the Central Junction Box fuse panel as well as what appears to be a 6A circuit breaker, PTC1, also in the Central Junction Box. Both of these circuits also provide power to the radio head unit, so if the radio works fine, it's not a fuse issue.
Do you get a "splash screen" with the Ford logo when you open the display and press the Power button or no indication when you attempt to power it on?

Thank you for the tips.
After researching it all, I don't believe it's factory. Radio works fine, just no screen on the rear TV, I am getting power up there but nothing when I push the power button. I believe, I'm going to scrap it and put in an after market DVD/TV, a cheap one runs about $125 from a local merchant. install directions seem pretty easy, couple wires and a couple mounting screws.
Thanks again for the search tips.
