What's it take to fill your tank?
I am somewhat new to the world of the Excursion and for the first time drove it until the low fuel light came on. I filled it and it took 36 gallons. I was surprised since it is a 44 gallon tank. I don't expect Ford built in an 8 gallon reserve but maybe they did. Is that what it takes to fill your tank too?

This has been an issue with my 2002 V10 Ex, when the light comes on and the needle is pegged on E and it says 0 miles to empty, i can only stuff 35 gallons in it!
My old 2004 and 2000 V10 Ex's the gauge did not go to E and the light did not come on until i'd used about 39-40 gallons, more then once i put 42 gallons in my old trucks.
But i can't stand pushing it with the light on even though i know i can go another 80 miles or so without issue at my constant 8 MPG.
last fill up was $140 btw

^Probably right about the cooling but I doubt if there is much difference in fuel temp when full or low (if any). Mine is usually $160 and I carry some gas with me at all times. That's one reason they started putting them in the tank, another was to help equalize the pressure, another to push instead of pull, and I imagine to save some space under the hood.

I've drained mine to fumes many times and stuffed over 46 gallons into it, filling it all the way up the neck to the opening.
