An excursion in my Excursion...

Just got back from a nice little road trip in my Excursion and thought I would post a few thoughts really quick. Drove from Houston, TX to Spokane, WA which is a grand total of 21xx miles, a good portion of which goes through some pretty good mountain passes in ID and MT. Between me and my wife, we completed the drive up there in just over 31 hours, only stopping for gas and bathroom breaks.

We completed some family business in WA and then drove straight through from WA to Yellowstone for a quick vacation from our vacation. We made this 600 mile drive nonstop... well, one fuel stop.

At Yellowstone, we just spent the day in the park and took in what we could in one day. The weather was pretty lousy and it rained most of the day. The Excursion took it in stride though.

Finally, we loaded up and drove from Cody, WY back to Houston which is 1600 miles in just 24 hours, again only stopping for gas and bathroom breaks.

Whew, are you still reading? All said and done, the Excursion ran about 4600 miles. All of the highway driving was with the cruise at 75. Gas mileage was between 13-14 on the trip up. There were no issues with the Excursion at all. I still can't believe how comfortable it was during the drive and at no point did I really feel fatigued. I must say that I am glad I changed brake fluid and the front pads and rotors prior to the trip as some of the passes were pretty steep.

With our two kids, they had plenty of room and were never at each others throats. Had plenty of room for our luggage and two coolers so we were able to eat on the go. Had a 16gig thumb drive in the stereo so we had more than enough music. Only saw 6 other Excursions during our whole trip. Spent two hours running errands in Houston just now and already saw 7... lol

Anyways, tl;dr, the Excursion is the best road trip vehicle and it ran FLAWLESS! Pics for clicks;

We just did a trip ourselves. Ran great and can't get more comfortable. The 6.0 got 21-23 mpg.

Nice, I love taking it on road trips, Even if it is just me and the wife. It's the most comfortable vehicle we have.

Was there in early June back in '05. The Grand Tetons had snow on the upper half and they looked awesome.

I did that drive three times this year alone. Whidbey Island (two hours north of Seattle) to Houston and back while on leave in February, then again in June when I got out and came home, 2614 miles each way. Was a fantastic drive except for New Mexico, that **** was boring. Wish I could have been able to stop and actually enjoy the scenery like y'all did, some really beautiful country out there.

I totally agree. We went to Disney in Orlando (from Minnesota) in March. The wife wanted to rent stating my high miles on my X. Thankfully I won her over and the X came through as expected!
