I know it`s old but seeing a new commercial for Toyotas Tundra "towing" the space shuttle....it really irks me they couldn't at least use an American truck (not interested in how Toyotas are made here....you know what I mean by American)... it`s actually pretty pathetic

New here. But I know the answer to this. NASA had nothing to do with picking the Toyota. Honestly pretty much any comparable truck could have done the task.

The museum already had a deal with Toyota for the trucks and other vehicles, and so when the bridge couldn't support the weight of everything that had been transporting the Shuttle, and they were going to have to move it another way. Toyota jumped at it.

 

Toyota paid big $ to the "museum" as a donation (corporate sponsor)....
