RDS fuel tank bitter/sweet moment,

Coming home yesterday after noon I pulled off to add some fuel to my newly installed RDS fuel tank. My fuel gauge was showing full because, well it was. The factory tank had been filled a few days earlier and this was the first time I had driven it since.

Anyway, I pull up to the pump, place the nozzle in the RDS aux tank. The pump kicks off at $100 so I replace the nozzle grab my receipt jump in the truck to drive away.

That is when it hit me, I just pumped $100 of fuel into my truck and there was no real instant reward of seeing the fuel gauge move to full....it just sat there where it was before I pumped fuel.

Kind of a bitter sweet moment, no instant reward of watching the fuel gauge climb to full, but I did know that I was good to go for over 1,000 miles of non stop driving....LOL!!!

WOW, $3.39 that's one heck of a price. I was at $3.59 and pleased with that.

price wars have been going on ow for 5-6 months near my work.
That was one of the compelling reasons to add the tank.

Usually costs me about $285 to fill up, prices anywhere from 3.57-3.99.

It is hard to get used to seeing the big numbers but then 75 gallons of fuel tends to last a while.

Might get lucky around here and pay $3.99 a gal before the cash and other discount cards kick in...

At least I am in the cheaper areas of the state - on the way down paid $4.64 and was happy about it, since it was $7.20/gal in Canada... It would be $720 to fill that 100 gal tank up...

I don't like paying $3.50. If it was $7.20 I would not own the truck or have the RV hobby.

Ouch... $7.20/gal... At that price I'd just sell the truck and ride a Go-Ped...

As a matter of fact, as of two hours ago - yes! Will be picking up a 2014 Blue Jeans Lariat with the Ultimate Package next week. Good thing we have no camping plans until Labor Day and that is only to Lums Pond. I think we will have plenty of time to get the new one broken in, the bed liner and hitch installed by then for that long 3.7 mile pull

Well good for you Tom. You should be really pleased with the new truck. Long or short bed?
Best thing now is you can leave the camp ground early and no one will know until you bang the hitch.

Welcome to the best Ford Truck forum.

Maybe a couple of members here can welcome our friend and camping compadre to FTE

Be careful with these guys though, they can spend your money faster then you can bring it home

And don't forget - pictures or it didn't happen!

Short bed. It'll fit in the garage with 2" to spare. I already have my eyes on the Recon tail lights I saw in a post yesterday. .

First thing we will get is the Titan fuel tank. That 26 gallon one just won't cut it. We carried a five gallon can of extra out to Goshen last year and had to plan fuel stops very carefully.

Pics next week!

BTW, I'm not Tom, but the better half
