Here is the final T56 position, I actually could run a bench seat style shift handle or a remote shifter, not sure what I will make yet.

Pedal mount changed and clutch master cylinder mounted. Here is a good look at the 1993-1997 camaro/firebird setup, it is a nice compact assembly.

Next will be to make the pedals.

Nice work! I was drawn in by the LT1. I'm not brand loyal, but when I was a teenager, I had a thing for the LT1/T56 drivetrain because it came in vettes. I swapped that drivetrain in to my 3rd gen Camaro.

I was wondering why you didn't boost the 383. I put a P600b on my stock LT1 and put 456 to the wheels.

Good luck on the build.

Hi and thank you!
Believe me I considered putting the V1 on the 383! It would be perfect for it, forged crank, H beam rods, forged pistons..but the CR is 10.5 and the cam is not what would be wanted for boost, too much overlap. I could put it on but it would be more for bragging rights, it isnt needed.
The other thing is reality
This engine is already way more than the truck needs, it really is stupid to put it in this chassis. It runs great and is a real cackler at idle. I am going to have a lot of fun with it but if this was my only truck I would put in a more stockish engine..but I am building two trucks so this one will be the stupid one!

Gotcha. Bragging rights count for something!

But reality does too I suppose. :/

Will be checking your progress.

You are right, I probably should of put one of my BB chevy 427s in there

Ordered new clutch master and slave since they are dirt cheap and a kit to make a custom length hydraulic clutch hose as well since the factory one is too short. Also ordered a new 255 LPH fuel pump since without the supercharger I will be removing the booster pump and also switching over to a combination of steel and nylon fuel lines. Will also be changing the FEAD since the alternator is not where I want it, normally the A/C compressor would be mounted there and I want to leave that option open.

Very nice project!! I can't imagine what it would be like to drive that much horse power in one of these trucks. I have a stock lean burn low compression sbc with a 700R4, 373 rear, and 235/65R17s in mine and it will burn more rubber than I can afford and pulls a grade in 4th better than anything else I own.

Thank you!
You have an excellent matched combination there with that drive train, it is nice to feel that low end pull in OD and not have to down shift. HP is overrated, down low torque is better IMO. I am hoping to have that same low end pull by swapping out to a 4:11 rear, but I will do that towards the end of the build when I set the pinion angle.

Fenderwell headers anyone?

Anyone ever consider fenderwell headers?
I did a photoshop install and it looks like they will fit, at least they do in my picture LOL..I think it would be too cool to have a set of electric cutouts when it is time to make more noise. I have a set of headers on order, will get to see if the really fit or not.

Gary and I talked about them for his truck to fix the fit issues we're having. Except for custom builds I couldn't find anyone still building them tho, especially not for more modern engines.

I had thought about the same thing on my build, until I found the sanderson headers that fit a 460 into an F1. I'm pretty sure I'm still gonna have some space issues when I get to running the exhaust. Here are some pictures of ones i found when i was researching. I'm pretty sure one of them is from somebody on the board.

Does the LT1 use the same headers as a regular SBC? The electric cutouts is a tricky idea, "Honest, Officer, you've got the wrong Guy!"
BTW, You're doing a great job on your project!

What does the port spacing look like on the engine he is using? One option is to get a header with tube spacing that will work and replace the flanges. It is not too big a job to make flanges yourself if they are not available. There are still a few versions of fenderwell headers made for SB and BB chevy, the ones I ordered are from speedway but I believe are made by patriot. I ordered the uncoated version just in case any tubes would need to be modified.

Those are great pics, not sure what brand those headers are but at least they worked.

Thanks! The LT1 had a D shaped exhaust port but a regular SB chevy header normally has a large enough tube to work ok. Some headers even have oval openings at the head which work even better, I wont know what these have until I get them.

Looks like the photoshop test worked, the headers actually will work.

Picked up these 2 1/2" pieces for $5 at a swap meet, I should be able to use pieces of them to hook up to the headers.

Electric cutouts are looking to be a go, a silly add on for an equally silly engine. I am going to have to make a video when this thing fires off.
