fan blower...I think?

ok here is my nemesis....my fan blower likes to come on kind of when it wants and does'nt usualy work when i want it to. it will work sometimes and others it wont. i checked the resistor and replaced it and the fan speed switch is new. the temp controls work (when the fan works) the a/c works. everything on the a/c and heat system works it's just that the fan only blows when it wants to. i dont understand this one. do i need to get a preist and perform an exorcism or is this fixable?

My 91 did the same thing. Sometimes it would start running when you hit a hard bump in the road. Fan motor is going out and needs to be replaced. Easy job to do. Universal replacement motors are available, but watch how you wire it up. They will run both directions depending on which way you hook it up
Dialtone.

Ahhh... memories of my old 92 X. The fan would never reach the highest setting w/o hitting a hard bump, if I rmemeber correctly. But it still worked fine otherwise so I never bothered getting it fixed.

We had the same problem on our 93 explorer. It was a relay that cost $10 at Auto Zone. Fan blows when we want/need it to.
Try removing another relay to test it and make sure that's what it is.

My husband looked in the manual and it tells you which one is for what. He removed one that made the truck not start but the blower suddenly worked like it should.
