$#@&!!#^#! $$# truck

Why is it that my truck breaks down when I don't have time for it to? @$#&! I'm sitting here waiting for my lovely mother to bring me my tool box, so I can begin diagnosing the issue. I replaced the fuel filter Thursday when my truck died on me. Ran fine til now. I need to clean out/replace the tank due to rust issues. Hopefully it's only more crap in the filter. Bleh.

Oh I feel your pain. There is never a good time for it to break down.

Good luck getting it running.

Ya. I think the lines or the fuel pump is plugged. Its spitting chunks of rust/dirt instead of fuel. Greeeaaat! I know what I'm doing tomorrow!

save yourself the trouble and either replace the tank or clean it out good, there is some good tutorials on youtube that will get you by for now. more than likely your lines and possibly your carb is full of stuff. on one side i feel sorry for what you are going through but this could be taken care of quite cheaply with just a lil time when you have it.

I feel ya too. After being stranded 4x in a month because of 4 seperate issues, I gave up and parted out my truck a couple months ago. I also bought a 2014 kia soul so I can have SOMETHING dependable and easy on the gas. lol

Can't wait to get the Scab done and see how she decides to treat me. :P

If you buy either, good luck. I'd bet that saturn's break down rate is worse then your truck.

I haven't had time to work on my truck for the last 2 months. I'm either at work or at my grandpa's house helping him move. Thankfully, I'm done helping my gpa, so I'll have a little time tomorrow to start cleaning my fuel system out. I don't want to buy a new tank since I plan on converting my truck to diesel. I heard somewhere you're not supposed to put diesel in a tank that has held gas? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't know about the diesel in old gas tank thing. However diesel in a galvanized tank is a no go. Most ford tanks are galvanized. A few are plastic. You can also get a stock replacement plastic tank for a few models.

Diesel in a galvanized tank is ok, so long as you don't let it sit around unused for long periods of time. Doing this can cause algea to form in the fuel, which plays heck with fuel filters.
Most of the new replacement fuel tanks are not galvanized, due to the tree huggers. This is a good thing, when doing a diesel conversion.....

As for the original issue, if you're having repeated filter clogs, then you really should drop the tank for a good cleaning. If it's very bad, a replacement may be in order.

Don't bandaid it. It sounds like you know the fuel system is a problem. Take the extra time and just do it right and be done with that system. Every time I have had to take my truck off the road for work, I take the extra time (and $$) to do it right. One less thing to think about. The last deal was swapping in hydroboost. Another vacuum booster would have been quicker, but after having the last reman crap out after 3 years, I decided to upgrade. It took longer, but I am glad I did it.
