1986 F350 AC line adapter/check valve seat question
I'm hoping somebody could help me out with what seal to use in an adapter with goes between the condenser and the liquid line. Truck is a 1986 and I was told that the "adapter" is actually a check valve which was used for a year or two around 1986, but I don't see any check valve in it. Anyways it has a deep groove for a seal, but typical round O-rings will not provide a correct seal. First pic is groove where seal goes and second is with adapter as installed. Does anyone know anything about this? . Thanks

@mark460 , glad to see you are still active here. I just ran into this very problem. The check device on my system is not in the best of condition and I would be happy to delete it. Can you tell me how you went about solving the adaptation issue with the new hose? Every liquid line listed for this era truck is the same as the new hose you asked about seven years ago.

FWIW: My best guess is the device acts as a flow control so then the system is shut down or when compressor cycles off, the device prevents liquid refrigerant from boiling off through the orifice tube / evaporator keeping a larger supply of liquid ready for the next use. Remember the old Ford slogan? "Ford has a better idea".

I can't remember what I did at the time. If I would guess, I think I asked a guy who does a lot of classic car resto and he referrred me to a guy locally that can crimp hoses. Hydraulic line crimpers may be fine also, if you have a line and fitting. Sorry, I could help more.
Thanks Mark. Just seeing your original post helped a lot. Bet you never expected to see this thread disinterred.
