camshaft sensor

I have a 2008 Expedition. Today my engine light came on and I took it to Autozone to get the test run. It came back as a camshaft sensor A bank 2. So my question is, are they hard to replace yourself? My husband was gonna try but he doesnt know alot about cars. I am sure he can figure it out if it is not hard. Thanks

Welcome to FTE.
I would like to answer the question however I need to know what motor you have in the Ex.
Is it the 5.4L V-8 or the 4.6L 6 cylinder?
In the 5.4L the camshaft position sensor is located in the front end of each head.
It is held in by 1 bolt.

I would go ahead and change both of them while I was in there.

Remove negative battery cable before removing sensors.
Computer has to go to sleep for at least 15 minutes before
reconnecting battery.

AND it is a safety issue too.

Post your results when the repair is completed!

BTW

Welcome to FTE, netty628.

For me it is simple. For my wife it is impossible.

Shorebird, the 2007+ Expy only has the 5.4 3v for the motor. Ford didn't continue the 4.6 2v/3v into it the latest version

Yay!! It is all fixed. The part cost me $14. The shop down the street said it was gonna cost about $200 to fix cause it will take about 3 hours to fix. Again, my hubby knows really nothing about cars and it took him less than 10 minutes. Thanks for all the help you guys gave.

Well my engine light came back on again today. Only been about 10 days sinces my hubby replaced the sensor. Another guy helped me at auto zone today. Test came up as same sensor A bank 2. My hubby replaced the drivers side sensor. It worked fine up until today. Could he have replaced the wrong side? Thanks

There is the possibility that the sensor has failed.
There may be a fault in the circuit wiring that will show as a sensor problem.
A thorough inspection both visually and doing continuity tests for damaged wiring or connectors is needed.
Sometimes a fault may be in a connector and simply disconnecting then reconnecting it may clear the fault.
A connector may have not been completely reconnected by your husband and it has worked loose.
Happens all the time.

Is there a way for me to view your YouTube video on replacing the BANK1 CMP? I need to replace it in a 4.6L 2003 Explorer due to CEL code P0340.
I am having a tough time (as well as others) finding the BANK1 Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) ....

Thanks...
