after market light help

Was looking for an HID set up and found the Recon's at a great price but the bulbs are simply not bright enough....think stock. Anyway, I purchased some brighter bulbs for the stock housing and switched them out again. This time they shine far enough out and don't give that super white light that I can't stand (personal preference). But the complication is that I have the other set up and really like them. So, if any of you have experience can you tell me if there are "upgrades" for the Recon set up? Here's what I have:

well I called Recon and the guy told me that each HID is specific to the ballast they sell so it's $250 to do the upgrade on the projector bulb. Mind you these come with bulbs already but the low beams simply suck. So they told me I could use these RECON Part # 264H1HID - H1 HID High Intensity Discharge Off-Road Lights
Problem is I don't want the ballast just the bulb so did the guy at Recon tell me the truth? Also, any other alternatives for this?

If you are asking if bulbs and ballasts are specifically matched, I have swapped bulbs and/or ballasts in previous vehicles without issue. If you are asking if you can put an HID bulb in with no ballast, the answer is no. Perhaps things have changed with HID in the 3 years since I've messed with them though. Good luck with your hunt! Hope that helps.

The ballast is what give the bulb it's charge, and gets you that bright light.* Any hid kit I've put in has had the ballasts

I know I need the ballast and in fact they are already installed. I just want to replace the projector bulbs pictured above for more light and they wont sell them without the ballast. I think they are giving me the run around as I've never heard of having to match the ballast to the bulb.

Oh sorry, now I gottcah.

Maybe you have 35 w and they are selling you 55w, then I could see you needing the entire new kit?

It would be nice if I could figure that out myself. I have no clue what the standard ones are that come with the lights. Now I know why people aren't ready to drop 1 to 2 grand for this conversion...I'm too far down the road now and everything else but the fog lights are LED's.

I'd ask them what w you have and what the new kit has for w. That's the only reason I can think of for new ballast. I've done both kits, 35w vs the 55w kits are a tad brighter. I have a 55w in my truck right now

I'll do just that 2ndstroke. I hope they don't give me the run around. I have a few of their products and I swear they have newbies working every time I call.
Thanks.
