Question about CAI
Hey all, New here, and have a few questions, but one in particular.
I recently purchased an '06 F250 CCLB with a 6.0PSD, and it has an S&B Cold Air Intake on it, but was wondering why there is a hole in the side of the filter box (which would be under the hood in the hot air) doesn't this effectively cancel out the purpose of the CAI?

Yes.
The only thing it is good for is taking money out of your pocket.
AND dusting your turbo. More money out to replace that.

The factory air filter isn't very sexy looking but it filters great and flows pretty well. As you figured out there no significant improvement with an aftermarket set up unless you're running high RPM's or have a show truck. It's actually one of the things Ford got right on the 6.0 trucks.
In my opinion, it would be worth the $$ to scare up a factory assembly (with the filter minder) if you have a salvage yard nearby.
Too bad Ford didn't put the plastic "chrome" on these things, then more of them might have stayed on the trucks.
