That CCSB isn't just stock, it's darn near showroom. Rare that a red truck would still look so good. In the south, where they don't rust, red paint takes a real beating in the intense sun. In the north, where the sun isn't so intense, it's the rust that inflicts the beating.

And yes, the tool box built into the bed was an awesome option up into the '70s. A crime against humanity that they discontinued it.
I live in central Oklahoma and the summers are brutal here but this truck is rarely outside. I have a company vehicle and it sits in the garage all week long and a lot of the weekends too. I work many hours so it just waits. Yes they do come in other colors but the red ones just catch my eye. I have a 2011 f250 as well that is white if you can believe it. It is a 6.2 gas and is a good truck but the 97 is my baby.

Proof that I do own other than red ones. This was a fly fishing trip to Colorado in 2012. This is a 2011 f 250 6.2 gas 4x4.
