Cold air intake, yes or no?

Cold air intake, yes or no?
I have a 2010 F250 6.4 cc 4x4. The dpf and egr are deleted. I don't have a tuner but have had the truck flashed by 5 Star Tuning with a mild hp tune for all around driving and towing. I have been considering adding a cold air intake but didn't know if any gains in hp, mpg, or lag on take off would be worth the money spent on the intake if I stay with the tuning I have on the truck now. I have some turbo lag but it isn't terrible compared with what I've read some others post. I read that an intake might help with that, but don't know if that's true or not. I don't do any really heavy towing. Mainly a 30 ft. travel trailer that weighs about 7,000 lbs.

opinions very...most say if your not running big hp tunes then an intake is a waste of time! I run the 250hp setting on my mini maxx ...so I added aFe stage 2.. gained another 28hp/42lbs torque..why not?? The more power the better....You have 2 be careful with intakes because they don't all seal as well as the factory one...really it's up to you!

I have bought 2 aftermarket air intake products.
1 was a k&n filter that didn't seal right, and would have dusted the engine if I didn't notice.
2 Was a afe intake system, and the rubber boot on the turbo cracked right apart after a week or month or something. Allowing totally unfiltered air in the turbo and engine.
2/2 total piles of crap.
The 6.0 and 6.4 trucks have awesome stock air intakes.

Thanks for the advice, guys. From what I've read, you don't see any measureable benefit performance wise unless you are running high HP tunes. The tune I have on my truck is a lower HP tune suited for all around driving and towing. I don't care about a big increase in HP anyway. I was just looking for a little more pep to maybe help with the turbo lag issue. Sounds like it's not worth the money or risk of dusting my turbos for a few extra ponies.

To each his own, but as a few others have mentioned, if you're running high horsepower tunes, it does indeed help the turbo spool and truck breathe better overall. If you're running stock or not much above stock, there's really no point to it.
I know it's no comparision between a 6.0 and 6.4, but running Gearhead's SRL+, the Atlas 40 FICM, and the stock intake, my truck would smoke heavily when I mashed it at times. This is because it took the turbo longer to spool and clean up the smoke. I replaced the intake with an AFE Stage II SI and noticed much better spooling and way less smoke.
Bottom line: If your truck is belching out smoke, chances are it's not getting enough air and you should consider an intake. If you only see a slight haze or a less than obnoxious amount of smoke, stick with the stock setup.

It was $900 for them to remove the dpf and install the replacement pipe, as well as install the blanks in the egr and delete and reprogram the truck. Not sure how much it would be just for them to flash it. Do maintenance myself (oil and filter changes, etc.) so I haven't been to the dealer since the delete.
