Cant figure this out

I bought a 2003 Excursion with the 6.0L bone stock a few weeks ago and it drove great for a few days until the CEL came on. I hooked up AE and pulled the codes and all it came up with was P2285 ICP Sensor Circuit Low. So I started looking into things and this is what I have found so far.

Truck Starts fine on first crank maybe 5-10 seconds. Sometimes will have a little stutter for a few seconds after it starts that clears out. Slight puff of smoke at start-up.

Coolant levels have not changed.

ICP: (Don't know why the code is being set with it running like this)
Idle is at about 650-680 PSI
Desired and actual readings are usually 5-15 PSI different
Voltage looks good according to sliding scale for the sensor

Battery Voltage:
Cranking 11.9V
Running 12.9-14V

FICM:
Key off 0V
Key on engine off 48V
Key on cranking 47.5V
Key on engine on 48.5V
Key on accelerating 48V

During the first 10 min of start-up and drive it feels like it will stutter and surge. also will blow a puff of blue smoke when shifting out of first.

I have ran AE and poked around at all of the harness connections and cannot find any loose connections, shorts or chafing that would be making this happen when going over bumps.

What is the ICPV's at KOEO? It should be .18 to .24. The 03's and early 04's are famous for being hard on ICP sensors due to their location ( being behind the turbo ) check the volts and also unplug the sensor and check for the presence of oil in the electrical connection, if you find oil replace the pigtail and the sensor. And 5 to 10 seconds of crank time to start is too long, 3 seconds at the longest is normal. What does the IPR% read while idling and up to operating temp ( 185* to 190+* )?

Thank you for the quick reply!

Cranking time was just a guess as I have not paid much attention to it since it seems to start fine.

When I go out to lunch I will time the crank and pull these values as I am going to go get new tires put on at lunch.

Ok so crank time is good 2-3 seconds.

ICPV KOEO .9-1V

ICPR%
23.5-25% while idling up to 185F

So the ICPV's with the " key on engine off " is .9-1.0 volts? If so the ICP sensor and or pigtail need to be replaced.

Ok will do! Thank you

So even though the sensors pressure readings seem good it can still be bad.

ICP is a funny thing, if out of nowhere you get a surge, it is going South. If it is leaking oil you will see it down the back of the engine if under the turbo.

Thank you for all the help. I got the sensor swapped out and the new pigtail soldered in on Saturday. All the guides were right on took about 4 hours with breaks. Now I am showing .22V KOEO and no more surging.

Still cant believe that slight voltage variance at startup was causing me that much of a headache even though the PSI reading were right on.

Well that was short lived. I was out of town the past week only to come home and the truck is doing it again voltage is still .22 KOEO and no codes this time except for a 2wd Transfer case code

Uplug it and see if it still happens, unpluging it put you in default mode and will set a check engine light

Yep same thing. It's only within the first 10 min of starting then it's fine once it's all the way up to tenp.

I am going to run some oil additive and see if I can clear it up. Anything I should check?
