How long have you had the truck? Has it always done this, or is it something that started recently? What is the temperature outside when this happens?

Sounds like the EBPV sticking to me. Don't recall what the parameters are for normal operation but mine only operates if it is fairly cold ambient temps.

I think it's just normal operation. I'm guessing it won't shift into overdrive while this is happening either, right? My truck does pretty much the same thing. It's a complete dog until the transmission temp comes up to about 95F or so, and it's always been that way.

I run a 2002 7.3L F350 as well and have never noticed anything like that except in winter when it feels kind of stiff till the tranny warms up. Maybe I'm just a relaxed diver--I don't think I hit 2500 rpm on the average drive except towing or passing.

My ebpv tube is rusted in two. So my truck acts like what you are describing. Warms up and away we go!

2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel Starting Problems

I am new to this forum so I hope I am doing things right. I have a 2002 7.3 that is having some issues. It starts and runs great, however: every once in a while it will not start. It turns the motor over very fast but does not fire. If I let the truck sit for 20-30 minutes and try it again it will fire right up. I replaced the camshaft sensor in the front of the motor hoping that would fix it but the truck still has this problem. Any ideas on what the problem might be
